Yesterday I rode the trainer in the basement for 50 minutes. The first half of the ride was between 75-80% of my max heart rate. The second half of the ride was between 80-85% of my max. When I work out harder the second half of a ride or run, I really stretch myself. It was hard, but nothing I can't do.
After the ride, I bundled up Tyler (2 years old) in the 40 degree weather and ran two miles.
It was a good work out day and a great way to start out the week.
Today I left my house before 5 am and went to Elevate. I swam in the endless pool for 25 minutes. This is my first time swimming in five weeks, because of an injury to my rotator cuff lifting weights. I felt discouraged today, because it is like learning how to swim all over again. My shoulder is gonna need some extra TLC. David (my husband, who is the physical therapist at Elevate) has giving me some band stretches to do. I hope that with time and consistent exercise and swimming, I can improve my swimming and get back where I was.
It is frustrating to work so hard at something and then have to feel like you are starting all over!
Oh well...
After my swim, I showered and changed for my tri-class with Greg, my coach. We did core exercises for 30 minutes and then the hardest hill-treadmill workout I have ever done in my life. My legs are sore tonight...really sore.
I also increased my base running pace on the treadmill to 7.5. I really want to increase my speed and push myself, even if it means I am exhausting myself. It really feels good to extend myself beyond my comfort range.
My exerspy says I burned about 33oo calories today...All in All... a good day! Snow flurries outside were an added bonus. Winter is upon us..Crazy to think!
